Lansquenet-sous-Tannes:

Known as Lansquenet in the movie version, this is the village that is turned upside down by the arrival of Vianne Rocher and her daughter, Anouk. On the surface, its people are staid, respectable and obedient, but there are surpressed passions running underneath and Vianne's chocolaterie coaxes them out into the open.

Filmed in France and England, several places stood in for Lansquenet. They were Flavigny-sur-Ozerain in Burgundy, and on the Rue De L'ancienne Poste in Beynac on the Dordogne River in Dordogne and the river scenes at Fonthill Lake at Fonthill Bishop in Wiltshire. Appropriately, much of Lansquenet was filmed in Flavigny, which is a small village and seminary, being most famous for it's aniseed sweets.

The most prominent places in Lansquenet are the Church, the Chocolaterie Maya (also known as La Celeste Praline), the priest's house, the Comte de Reynauld's house (not in the novel), the hairdressers, Serge Muscat's cafe, the village school and the riverside where the water gypsies camp.
